Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is a not-for-profit organization focused on the wireless exchange of data between devices such as mobile phones, speakers, computers, and ear buds on a low-cost short-range radio frequency. Bluetooth certified wireless devices utilize this technology in their products. The Bluetooth SIG works to continuously improve its technology as identified by the different Bluetooth versions such as 2.1 or 5.0. Bluetooth Declaration ID numbers can always be verified via the Bluetooth Product Listing online database.

The Ingress Protection (IP) rating standard (IEC 60529) was developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission to help grade the resistance of a device against water and dust. This is particularly useful when purchasing outdoor items such as a wireless speaker that might get exposed to rain or sand on the beach. The first number indicates protection from dust and other objects, the second water. The higher the number the higher the protection.

IP65
6 = DUST
5 = WATER
A rating of IP65 means the item is dustproof (6) and protected against water jets from any angle (5).
Not protected from solids
If the item isn’t rated to be protected from solid matter the first number is replaced by the letter “X”. For example: IPX5.
Not protected from water
If the item isn’t rated to be protected from water the second number is replaced by the letter “X”. For example: IP6X.
